「きゅうり封じ」で健康に 岡山・石山寺
「土用の丑の日」の２９日、津山市大谷の石山寺で夏野菜のキュウリに願いを封じ込めて祈祷（きとう）する「きゅうり封じ」が行われた。
真夏の厳しい暑さを、みずみずしいキュウリにあやかって乗り切り、健康に過ごせるようにと、約４００年前から土用の丑の日に合わせて行われている。
本堂の仏前には、護符と呼ばれるお札が埋め込まれ、信徒らの願いを書いた紙が巻かれたキュウリ約３５０本が供えられ、加藤圓祥住職（６７）らが祈祷（きとう）を行った。キュウリは翌朝、境内の一角に埋められ、願いが封じ込められるという。
