「日本通信のSIMであれば通話環境が最も整っているドコモの回線を使用することになるので、1台目のスマホがソフトバンクモバイルやKDDI（au）という人であれば、現在使用しているスマホが使えない時の保険として、ドコモ回線が使用できるLCCスマホをサブで持つというスタイルもアリだと思います」
最後に、今後LCCスマホが通信業界でどのような立ち位置となっていくのか、予想してもらった。
「残念ながら現時点では、ドコモ、au、ソフトバンクを巻き込んでの価格競争を起こせるほどのインパクトはありません。しかし、もうすでにLCCスマホ同士での競争は起こりつつあるので、今後はますます過熱していくのではないでしょうか。今までマニア向けというイメージが強かった通信SIMも、激安端末とセットにすればライトユーザー層にも売れるということをイオンが実証してくれたことが大きく、これからもさまざまな企業が参入してくると思います。競争が盛り上がれば通信速度や通信容量が向上して、かなりマシに使えるかなというレベルのものも出てくるでしょうから、将来が楽しみなジャンルではありますね」
