吉備線LRT化 2段階で素案提示
JR吉備線のLRT(次世代型路面電車)化構想をめぐり、大森雅夫岡山市長、片岡聡一総社市長、真鍋精志JR西日本社長が22日、岡山市役所で会談した。実施の是非を含めて議論のたたき台とする計画素案を「沿線の現状と課題」「運営主体、費用負担、運行計画など」の2段階に分け、年内に提示する方針で一致した。
吉備線LRT化に関わる3機関のトップがそろって協議したのは初めて。非公開で約40分間話し合った後、記者会見で説明した。
説明によると、沿線の現状と課題に関する計画素案は9、10月ごろ、運営主体、費用負担、運行計画などは11、12月ごろに示す予定。素案作りは、両市長と同社の中村圭二郎岡山支社長による「トップ会議」と、実務担当者によるワーキンググループが連携して進めることで合意。有識者や市民代表、国、県の職員らから意見を聴く場も設ける。
両市長は「沿線のまちづくりともリンクさせ、検討を深めていく」との認識を示した。
計画素案は、LRT化による運行の本数や時間帯の変化など現状からの変更点を盛り込み、導入に伴うメリット、デメリットを示す。両市長は「市民のコンセンサス(合意)が得られれば事業を進めたい」としている。
吉備線は岡山 -総社間を単線で結ぶ20・4キロ。JR西日本は2003年、富山港線(富山市)とともに吉備線のLRT化構想を公表した。富山港線では06年に国内初のLRT・富山ライトレールが開業した。
