新見市大佐地区で晩年を過ごした陽明学者・山田方谷を顕彰する市民団体「方谷さんを広める新見の会」は１３日、大佐小阪部のおおさ総合センターで「方谷祭りｉｎ大佐」を開催。音楽演奏や講演を通じて幕末の藩政改革などに手腕を発揮した偉人に思いをはせた。
市内外の約１５０人を前に、日本政策投資銀行の吉田淳一・前岡山事務所長が「方谷さんに学ぶ、岡山活性化のカギ」と題して講演。方谷が残した言葉を引用し、岡山の観光振興や地域活性化策を提言した。
講演に先立ち、方谷をたたえるオリジナルソング「至誠惻怛（しせいそくだつ）
わが一天」を制作した岡山市のボイストレーナー松原徹さんらが出演し、来場者と一緒に歌声を響かせた。
