"100,000 cities" development is promised by a commemorative ceremony for 10 years from Tsuyama birth.
5 cities merge by "big merger in Heisei", and rebirth "and" Tsuyama-shi in 100,000 cities are born, and 28 days when 10 years were met and the said fairs hold a commemorative ceremony at Bell Faure Tsuyama (the said Ichishin Uomachi). A joint as well as about 500 citizens were celebrated and development in the city was promised.
The video showing which looked back upon 10 years was performed by an opening of a ceremony, and a match of municipalism was introduced to maintenance of school shokuiku center and Tsuyama area clean center.

The said city absorbs 4 towns and villages in Kamo-cho, Aba-son, Shoboku-cho and Kume-cho on February 28, 2005, and is established. About 6000 people decrease the population which were 110,569 with 104,723 people (current as of January of this year) then.

「１０万都市」津山誕生から１０年 記念式典で発展誓う
「平成の大合併」で５市町村が合併して１０万都市の「新生・津山市」が誕生し、丸１０年を迎えた２８日、同市はベルフォーレ津山（同市新魚町）で記念式典を開催。市民ら約５００人とともに節目を祝い、市の発展を誓った。
式のオープニングでは１０年間を振り返ったビデオ上映が行われ、学校食育センターや津山圏域クリーンセンターの整備など市政の取り組みが紹介された。
その後、会場全員で市民憲章を朗読。宮地昭範市長が「人口減少や少子高齢化など深刻な状況だが、地域の特色や資源を生かしながら“笑顔あふれる ふるさと津山”の実現に向けまちづくりに取り組みたい」とあいさつした。津山鶴丸太鼓による和太鼓の演奏がフィナーレを飾り、会場は大きな拍手に包まれた。
同市は平成１７年２月２８日、加茂町、阿波村、勝北町、久米町の４町村を吸収合併して誕生。当時１１万５６９人だった人口は１０万４７２３人（今年１月現在）と約６０００人減少している。
